There’s something pretty special about handing a child a compass and watching them realise they can actually use it to find their way.

Our Adventure Compass is a real working tool designed to get curious kids thinking about where they are, which direction they’re heading and what’s happening in the world around them.

With a compass on one side and thermometer on the other, use the handy carabiner to clip it onto a backpack and take it on bushwalks, camping trips, holidays or backyard adventures. Kids can learn to find north, follow directions, create treasure hunts, map an adventure and check the temperature along the way.

Learning north, south, east and west on a worksheet is one thing. Standing outside with a compass and actually working out which way is north is something completely different.

Using a compass helps kids understand direction and navigation while encouraging observation, problem-solving and independence. Add the built-in thermometer and there’s another reason to stop, notice and ask questions about the world around them.

HOW TO USE YOUR COMPASS

Place the compass flat and away from large metal objects or magnets, then wait for the compass face to settle before reading your direction.

To check the temperature, allow approximately 3 minutes for the thermometer to adjust to the surrounding air.
