box upcycling ideas

Thank you so much for supporting Your Wild Books! We love upcycling, so here's a few ideas for how you can transform a shipping box into something to treasure 💚 Hopefully you have one of our custom 'hello nature warrior' boxes from your order with us, but if not, any similar carton will do! 🤗 Got another idea? Share it with us on Instagram

Cut 3 pieces of cardboard to divide your box into 6 sections. Make them all the same height as the inside of your box. Two pieces will be the same depth of the box, and one piece will be the length of the box. Cut slits half way into the cardboard as shown and slot together to make a grid shape. Poke a hole in the box lid with scissors or a pencil and thread the wool through.

It's important the wool is rolled into tight balls to make sure it doesn't get tangled when pulled.

Carefully unfold the box to make it flat. We love using paint pens on cardboard as the colours are so vibrant. You can also use pencils, textas and paints if you wish.

Once you have finished colouring your box, fold it inside-out and use for your art and craft supplies, or other treasures.

See our range of Paint Pens here.

Use scrap pieces of cardboard to divide your box into several compartments. We cut the pieces to size, then made slits in them to fit together. This is the same technique used for the wool box (above) but we just added more pieces. Tape them together with masking tape and place into your box. You can also add tubes from paper towel to divide your box, just cut them to the right size first. It's useful to have a 'floor' and at least one 'wall' piece of cardboard to help get it in and out of your box.

Make sure your dividers go all the way to the top of the box so that your natural treasures don't move around inside the box.

Thank you once again for your lovely order. Your support means the world to me, my small team and my family. 💚

Stay wild,
