  • Reviews and other content: Reviews, photographs, videos, survey responses, competition entries and content provided through our website or social media. Content submitted publicly may be visible to others.

  • Business information: If you apply for a wholesale or affiliate account or otherwise deal with us in a business capacity, we may collect your business and contact details, role, website, social media information, registration details and information about our commercial relationship.

We collect this information directly from you, automatically through cookies and similar technologies and from service providers involved in payments, ecommerce, fulfilment, delivery, returns, marketing, analytics, advertising and social media. We may also receive information from another person, such as when they send you a gift, or from publicly available business sources.

If you provide another person’s information, you should only do so with their permission.

Providing an email address or telephone number as part of an order does not automatically subscribe you to marketing. Email and SMS consent are collected separately and consent to one does not constitute consent to the other.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive information unless you voluntarily provide it and it is reasonably necessary for us to respond to you.

Where required by law, we will obtain consent before using non-essential tracking technologies or personal information for targeted advertising.

5. Sharing information and international transfers

We may share personal information with service providers that help us operate our business, including:

  • Ecommerce, website hosting and customer account providers

  • Payment processors and fraud prevention services

We only provide information reasonably necessary for these services. Some providers may also use information under their own privacy policies where they act independently from us.

We do not sell personal information for money. However, some privacy laws may classify information shared with advertising platforms for targeted advertising as a “sale” or “sharing”. Where these laws apply, you may have the right to opt out.

Additional restrictions apply to mobile phone numbers and SMS consent information, as explained in Section 7.

Some of our service providers operate or store information outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries where they or their service providers are located. Privacy laws in those countries may differ from Australian law. Where required, we take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate privacy and security safeguards are in place.

6. Cookies, analytics and targeted advertising

We and our service providers use cookies, pixels, tags and similar technologies to operate the website, remember preferences, understand how visitors use the website, measure marketing performance and provide advertising.

These technologies may be used for:

  • Essential functions, such as checkout, customer accounts, security and fraud prevention

  • Preferences, such as remembering your location, currency or other selections

  • Analytics, to understand website traffic, customer behaviour and performance

  • Advertising, to measure campaigns, create audiences and show more relevant advertisements on other websites and platforms

We may use services provided by Shopify, Google, Meta and other analytics or advertising partners. These providers may collect information about your device, website activity and interactions with advertisements and may combine it with information they hold under their own privacy policies.

Where required by law, we will request consent before using non-essential cookies or similar technologies. You can manage cookies through our available privacy controls or your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how the website functions.

Where applicable, you can opt out of certain targeted advertising or data sharing through our Do not sell or share my personal information page.

7. Email and SMS marketing

You may choose to receive promotional emails or text messages from Your Wild Books. Our marketing may include new products, special offers, gifts, sales, events, content and other Your Wild Books news.

Email and SMS subscriptions are optional and consent is collected separately for each channel. Providing your contact details when placing an order does not automatically subscribe you to marketing and subscribing is not a condition of purchase.

We currently use SMS for promotional marketing and do not send abandoned-cart reminders, order updates or other order-specific messages by SMS.

When you subscribe to SMS marketing, we collect your mobile number, country, consent status and details of when and how consent was provided. We may also collect message delivery and engagement information. Approximate location may be determined from information such as your IP address, selected country or telephone country code. We do not use precise GPS location for SMS marketing.

We use Klaviyo and telecommunications service providers to manage subscriptions and deliver messages. We do not sell or share mobile numbers, SMS opt-in information or SMS consent records with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. We may provide this information to service providers only as necessary to operate and deliver our SMS program. Further information is available in our Mobile Terms of Service.

Message frequency may vary and standard message and data rates may apply. You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe instructions included in our emails or text messages. Unsubscribing from email will not automatically unsubscribe you from SMS and unsubscribing from SMS will not automatically unsubscribe you from email.

8. Storage, retention and security

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including providing services, maintaining business and transaction records, resolving disputes, preventing fraud and meeting legal, tax and accounting obligations.

Retention periods vary depending on the type of information, why it was collected and any applicable legal requirements. If you unsubscribe from marketing, we may retain limited information to record and respect your preference.

When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to delete, anonymise or securely dispose of it.

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorised access, alteration or disclosure. However, no method of electronic storage or internet transmission is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

If a data breach occurs, we will investigate and take appropriate action, including notifying affected individuals and relevant authorities where required by law.

9. Children’s privacy

Our products are designed for children and families, but our website, purchasing services and marketing programs are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children without the involvement or consent of a parent or guardian where this is required by law.

Parents and guardians should supervise children’s use of our website and should only provide photographs, videos, reviews or other content featuring a child if they have authority to do so.
