I was so surprised how light and compact this pocket microscope is for little hands. My kids love taking it to the shops to inspect fruit and vegetables before adding them to their shopping carts.

We've also enjoyed taking a closer look at flowers and bugs at the botanical gardens.

The microscope is the perfect size for us to take with us on our travels, unspecting nature in different states and countries.

I'm a literal scientist so know how to adjust focus on a microscope, but can only get it to focus if you're literally TOUCHING the thing. So even as an adult, it takes a lot to work out which thing I'm looking at down the scope and lots of looking up again to get my bearings. Which doesn't help a young kid get context by zooming in and working out how things go together. So she got bored in 12 seconds...

Hi Jess,
Thanks so much for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that you didn’t get the experience you were hoping for with our Pocket Microscope.
The microscope is designed as a fun, introductory exploration tool for kids rather than a professional scientific instrument. Its lightweight, portable design makes it easy for little hands to take on outdoors and explore. However, this compact design does mean it has a more limited depth of focus than you would find with a piece of professional equipment.
You can find a short 'How To' video on the Pocket Microscope product page that demonstrates how to use the zoom wheels which we hope may be helpful for your daughter, along with the best positioning for placing objects under the lens to help achieve a clearer image.
If you need help with anything else, just let us know.
